This training course covers life cycle-based water footprint, as defined by the ISO 14046 standards. The establishment of sustainable water management requires identifying the impacts of human activity and potential levers: this is the purpose of water footprint. The water footprint quantifies potential impacts associated with water, in terms of water quality and quantity. This course is designed for managers and will mainly focus on the concept of the water scarcity footprint.

The purpose of this training course is to provide you with the knowledge to conduct life cycle analyses (LCA) on your own using openLCA. openLCA is a free open source professional LCA software. The maximum number of students for this course is 6, as to allow better student-teacher interaction. General knowledge of LCA is a pre-requisite.

The ecoinvent v3 database is significantly different in several aspects from previous ecoinvent databases and other databases on the market. ecoinvent v3 also contains several Québec-specific datasets, from the Québec life cycle inventory database project. The purpose of this 3-hour training course is to provide LCA practitioners with practical knowledge on the ecoinvent v3 database.
